Welcome to the inaugural issue of The All Life Forum: Bringing Scholarship to Life. The All Life Institute exists to harness the insights of scholars to drive changes to improve the lives of animals and the protection of nature. In just months, over 200 scholars across dozens of disciplines worldwide have joined our network, translating rigorous, science-based research and academic knowledge to influence the campaigns of the Center for a Humane Economy, an affiliate of the All Life Institute. This work will take many practical forms, including legislative testimony, briefing lawmakers, framing arguments, writing for scholarly journals or popular press, affidavits for court proceedings, or drafting science-based reports. We're deeply grateful for these good works.
At our inaugural Town Hall on August 14th, ALI president Wayne Pacelle, founder and executive chairman David Wiebers, M.D., Ken Shapiro, PhD, Jim Keen, DVM, PhD, and a terrific group of fellow scholars talked through how academic work can move the needle on factory farming, animal testing, the trade in wildlife, the use of animals in cruel spectator sports, and other large-scale forms of animal exploitation. It was energizing to hear directly from people doing this research and see how it's already shaping policy on the ground.
We look forward to growing this borderless faculty and working effectively alongside you for animals and all life.
