Dr. Alexia Zalaf is an Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia teaching MSc Criminology and BSc Psychology. Following the completion of her Ph.D., she joined research teams with the Cyprus Police and the Association for the Prevention of Family Violence. Since 2014, her teaching and research have focused on forensic psychology, animal welfare, and intimate partner violence. She is currently collaborating with Sheffield Hallam University and the Children's House, developing a tool for child sexual abuse victims navigating court proceedings. This tool was awarded the Council of Europe’s Crystal Scales of Justice Prize in 2023. Dr. Zalaf maintains her links with the community while continuing to engage in research within her areas of expertise.
