Bob Fischer is a professor of philosophy at Texas State University and the executive director of the Center for Policy and Animal Welfare. He also co-directs the Animal Welfare Economics Working Group. He's the editor of The Routledge Handbook of Animal Ethics (Routledge, 2019) and Weighing Animal Welfare: Comparing Well-Being Across Species (Oxford University Press, 2024), as well as the author of Animal Ethics: A Contemporary Introduction, 2nd Edition (Routledge, 2027). The two strands of his current work are the inclusion of animals in quantitative decision making and the sentience and welfare of neglected species.
