Lee F. Skerratt, Ph.D., is a Professorial Research Fellow in the Faculty of Science and Head of the One Health Research Group at the Melbourne Veterinary School in Melbourne, Australia. Previously he was Associate Dean (Research) and Senior Research Fellow within the College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences and a Senior Lecturer within the School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at James Cook University. Before that he was a Research Associate at the National Wildlife Health Center, USA and the University of Wisconsin. His main research focus is in understanding the impact and determinants of diseases affecting wildlife and ultimately methods to control important wildlife diseases. He has a special interest in wildlife biosecurity and leads collaborative initiatives aimed at developing solutions for major wildlife health issues. He is also the Wildlife Health Specialist Group Regional Coordinator for the Australia-New Zealand-South Pacific IUCN and a member of IUCN Rewilding Working Group-Advancing the theory and practice of rewilding.
