Jennifer Vonk, Ph.D.

Jennifer Vonk is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Oakland University. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of Behavioural Processes and a section editor in zoology for PeerJ. She is on the editorial board of several other journals and also serves as an associate editor for Scientific Reports. She was previously a co-Editor-in-Chief for Animal Behavior and Cognition. She has published over 200 articles, books, and chapters on more than 80 species. Her work examines the mechanisms underlying cognition and behavior in diverse species (including amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals) with the goal of better understanding evolutionary and environmental factors that shape cognition. Current areas of research involve social cognition, and problem solving as well as the welfare of zoo-housed species and the human/animal relationship.
