Teya Brooks Pribac, Ph.D.

Teya Brooks Pribac, Ph.D., is a scholar and multidisciplinary artist, living in the Australian Blue Mountains with sheep and other animals. She holds a Ph.D. in animal studies from the University of Sydney. Her publications include numerous academic articles and two Nautilus Award–winning books: the monograph Enter the Animal (2021) and the memoir Letters to My Sheep (2023; Spanish translation released in 2026), both also shortlisted for other awards. She is also the author of Not Just Another Vegan Cookbook (2022).

In 2024 she established the social enterprise Plant Inspired, through which she runs free and donation-based plant-forward community cooking classes. In 2025 she co-founded the Blue Mountains Community Dinner Club, bringing together local groups, organisations, and community members through relaxed, welcoming plant-based meals, with proceeds supporting charitable causes.

Her work brings together animal ethics, community building, creativity, and planetary sustainability.
