Michael Briscoe is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Colorado State University Pueblo. He earned his PhD in sociology from Utah State University, where his dissertation focused on human-animal relationships at three different scales: dairy farmer relationships with their cows, economic growth and state-level animal welfare laws, and international trade and farm animal cruelty. He is the author of the book Stocks or Stakeholders: The Benefits of Considering Animal Interests, and has published human-animal research in journals such as The Sociological Quarterly, Society & Animals, and Environmental Sociology. In addition to research he teaches courses including One Welfare: Humans, Animals, and the Environment, Environmental Sociology, and Social and Cultural Theory.
